Christopher's 1st Birthday Session
I've been working with Angela (mom) for the past year, after I photographed baby Christopher for his newborn session. So when she reached out to schedule his cake smash session, I was so excited to start planning with her! She booked about 6 months in advance which gave us plenty of time to go back and forth with different ideas, and to allow enough time to order the items that she knew she wanted to incorporate in her session.
Along with bringing some of his favorite items like his bear and bunny stuffies, mom had the most beautiful heirloom style wardrobe pieces for him to wear- including a knit bear outfit which was perfect for some photos with his stuffies. For the backdrop, we decided to hire Kayla from Pop 'N Party Jax to create a gorgeous balloon garland in the colors she chose for his birthday party, and it was the perfect touch to take his photos to the next level! My favorite part about hiring Kayla for the balloons, aside from the obvious fact that they're a stunning addition to birthday sessions, is that she assembles and delivers them to my studio the day before, so everything is ready to go when my clients arrive! Talk about a no-brainer :)
On the day of her session, she arrived at my home studio with all the things we had planned, and we started with some simple portraits without the balloon backdrop. I always like to snap some clean and simple wall-worthy images before we dive into the cake!
When it was time for the cake smash portion of the session, baby Christopher did NOT disappoint! As you can see from these images, he was very happy, and VERY messy which makes for such sweet memories.
